A Spooky Contest!

Everyone is already taking in the pumpkin spice and those of us who love the coming holiday are spookifying our homes. Now, Dreaming Rabbit Press is aiming to bring that creepy vibe to our readers, writers, and artists.

Welcome to our first ever contest. There are 2 art prizes and 3 writing prizes available for the best theme specific submissions for the holidays. Here are some guidelines:

  • Deadline for submissions is October 19th at Midnight EST.
  • Word Count is 700 words or less.
  • Limit to 1 submission per person.
  • Any digital or traditional art.
  • The work must be your own.
  • Poetry is limited to 1 piece.
  • Absolutely NO fanfiction.
  • No plagiarism.
  • No Erotica.
  • No pornographic material.
  • You must pick from the provided themes.
  • No simultaneous submissions.

The theme is, as our graphic suggests. Summoning. Also, you must pick two additional themes from below. These three themes must be included in your work.

  • Witches
  • Demons
  • Black Cats
  • Clowns
  • Sweets
  • Pumpkins
  • Scarecrows
  • Ducks

So, how do you submit?

To Submit:

Send an email to submissions@dreamingrabbitpress.com with the “She Summons Contest” in the subject line + The Title of Your Work. 

Attach a .doc file or include the submission in the body of the email, clearly defined with use of three asterisks * .

Be sure to include the following information in the body of your message BEFORE the submission:

  • Your Full Legal Name
  • Your PenName if Used
  • Your Professional Website or Social Media Link
  • A 50-word Biography to be included with the work.
  • The “She Summons Contest” in the subject line + The Title of Your Work
  • Word Count for Written Work (not including Poetry).

The information you provide us will be used ONLY for contacting you about your submission and payment, as well as expediting the process of reviews. Emailing our Submissions team is the only way we accept submissions. Emails to our Contact page or emails that do not contain the proper information will be ignored.

Quick question – on the facebook page Open Submissions – above the graphic it says to pick one and on this page to pick at least two themes – so a little confused how to put three things in a story that is super short – 700 words or less – no words to be wasted but just want to clarify which it is – one or two in addition to the theme of summoning.

Good question. Allow me to clarify…

You must include the overarching theme of Summoning in your 700 word submission. In addition, you must choose two items from the list and include them–for a grand total of three.
